I speak of pop-up ads in a separate widow. I have no problem with ads on the side or bottom or top a page. Specfically I refer to the following pop-up (new widow if you prefer) entitled "Ancestry.com, free access - " which comes from Ancestry's "adserver.com" at http://adserver.ancestry.com/RealMedia/ads/Creatives/OasDefault/S..RW.popunders/12857search_genealogical_records_blue.html. Blocking this adserver from Ancestry results in the inability to use census records.
They vary but the most prevalant ad appears as follows:

U.S. Immigration - Names from multiple ports ranging from 1500s-1900s
U.S. Federal Census Collection - Over 250 million names from 1790-1930
