Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct in assuming there is nothing in the index. When trying to export the file to a gedcom, it reports 0 entries to export. The resulting file looks like this:
0HEAD
1 SOUR EasyTree
2 VERS V8.0
2 CORP Sierra On-Line
1 DEST EasyTree
1 DATE 11 MAY 2002
1 FILE c:\Documents and Settings\John Ghormley\My Documents\Genealogy Related\Halltest.uds
1 GEDC
2 VERS 5.5
2 FORM LINEAGE_LINKED
1 CHAR IBM WINDOWS
0TRLR

Easy Tree shows no entries in the file yet the file is significantly large as noted perviously.

Is there documentation on the structure of the file such that I could write a parser to extract the information in some raw text form if no utilities exist to recover it?

Thanks,
John
