Generations Software

I also have Generations software for my genealogy and have recently discovered that there is no support for this program. I also had to purchase a new computer which has Windows XP and was not aware that my Generations was not compatible with XP. My dilemma is....should I go with another genealogy software that is compatible with XP or have my Windows 98 computer repaired just to do the genealogy? I do not relish the idea of starting over with another program but on the flip side..I do not want to enlarge my genealogy ( I have about 1000 names now ) and possibly have problems on down the road. What would you do if faced with this scenerio? And, if I went with a new software, what is the best on the market?
