I have the exact same problem with Gen5.2. I also upgraded as far as the program could go (version 6.0). I have nearly 6,000 names so I'm getting highly perplexed when I want to edit a family and the date vanishes. I have WinXP Pro SP2 and I've had a lot of problems just in the last two weeks. I had WinXP Home SP2 just last month and everything worked great. Then I built a new computer and decided to go with WinXP Pro with the security pack 2 this time. I'm a self-taught artist so I use programs like Adobe Photoshop. The program worked fine last month but now locks up on me regularly. I have to wonder if uninstalling SP2 would make any difference for my Photoshop and Generations. I suppose I could go to Family Tree Maker, but I'm not fond of the interface. I do hope this is a solvable problem. I hate to lose all of my work. I've already had to start over once due to disappearing and mislinked information.
