Data entry problem on family card

I having been using v8 for a couple of years without any problems. Now,out of the blue, when entering or editing a family card I cannot enter data. If I enter the first name section and edit, when I hit the save button it clears info from the surname section. Similarly with data entered on the events section when I press the save button it clears info rather than saves it! Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
