Missing data

I'm not a user of Generations, tho I own the 8.5 Liberty Edition. However, I bought it to help a friend recover her large file. I can make the file load, tho it takes a LONG time to index. But when is finishes, there doesn't seem to be data there. Is there a switch or key combination like in Family Tree Maker that will restructure the database? If not, is there a way to recover the data that may be hiding in the file?
