Jerry, I just found my old Gen8 disks and loaded the program on my Win7 machine. It seemed to install okay, but when I tried to open the program, it gave me some interesting notices (like a dll file missing). After I closed the message windows, there was the opening screen for Easy tree etc. I opened it and opened my data and it seems to work. At first I couldn't get help to work, but Win7 directed me to a download that allowed me to open the help file.

I didn't go in to compatibility mode (at least on purpose) so you might just try it again and see if you can ignore the warnings (or at least minimize all the warning windows) and see if it's there.
