Thanks for replying. The ironic thing is that it started working again just as I was going through the exercise of looking at other programs. When I first got the no space on the disc message I restarted the computer, tried saving to my Passport portable external drive as well as to the C drive and in all these places where there was abundant space I got the same message even when I tried saving smaller trees etc. so no rationale at all. I also could not save register reports or other reports I tried to generate from Generations. But low and behold the next day it worked - so I saved an up to date gedcom to the C drive and sent it to another computer for good measure. The whole thing is insane and as evidenced from my previous posting on the subject in the early new year this is not the first time. However I still cannot save to my Passport portable hard drive but can to a usb stick (go figure!). If anyone has a program they like as much as Generations or nearly as much please let me know. I really love the simplicity of the family card and seeing the 3 generations without too much other information confusing the screen. I did try Family Historian which is meant to be the nearest but again it was very busy (perhaps you can modify that)but the program is expensive. Any thoughts on this welcome. I ought to say that I am now in the process of writing up my research as I have been doing this since 1992.

Thanks
Barbara
