Dear Helen,
Yes, Generations is very good indeed and is well worth considering. The data disappearing syndrome only affects a minority of users of Generations, and is confined to the data that is being entered or amended at the time, not data loss on any larger scale. Once the problem is experienced the user should stop inputting or amending data and apply the solution. I have the solution if anyone needs it.
Other programs to consider include Family Historian which is very powerful and flexible. An evaluation version may be downloaded from www.family-historian.co.uk
