Does the Lost Data Problem Exist in New Versions?

I have been with Family Treemaker since DOS days, but I have had it and am looking for a more suitable program. Generations seemed good, so I read through this user group to see what problems Generations users have. I am alarmed by the data loss problem described in earlier posts. Has the problem been fixed for new purchasers? Have the software writers identified the problem and provided a patch themselves, or will it still be up to the purchaser to find a user group that kindly provides a patch that should have come from Generations? I still think the Generations format may be best for me, but I have a large file and the loss of just one global set of dates would cause me to take up bungee jumping as an alternative. Thanks for your time.
