Thank you so much for responding. I did copy it to my hard drive before saving it. The problem is that I cannot open it up on my own computer. (I now understand that anyone I shared my info with would also have to have the same program installed.)
A while back someone responded to another person's inquiry saying that you had to copy the entire Generations program on a disc as well as your own family file in order to open the file. I asked for more information about this, but did not get a response. Being such a novice, I do not know how to copy both the Generations program and my own file (from the hard drive) to a CD-R disc. Up to now, I have only copied documents from MY Documents to a disc. If this system works, I would definitely try it. Does this technique seem possible to you? I thought you could only save once to a disc, so I would have to have someone tell me how I could set it up so that I could save the Generations program and my own file from my hard drive to a disc at one time.
It seems to me that the makers of the program understand that folks must back up their work. Why is this so difficult to do?
