I have a Gendron puzzle I need some help with.
My g+ grandfather was Raphael Gendron, b. @ 1809, son of Jean-Baptiste Gendron (b. 12/27/1861, Chateauguay) and Marie-Josephte Rousselle dit Sansoucy. Raphael married Sophie Auger dit Gaspard on July 1, 1834 in Chateauguay.
They had 8 children:
Josephine (Sophie) (9/4/1836)
Marie (7/20/1839)m. Henri Tardu
Pierre (Peter) (11/14/1841) m. Hannah Lampier
Philomene (Amanda) (1843) m. Andrew Iley
- born in Chateauguay, Quebec -
William (1850) m. Marinda Pickle
Helena (1856) m. Louis Myre (Lemire)
- born in Frankford, Ontario.
Raphael & Sophie are listed on the 1851 Census for Frankford, Hastings Co., Ontario, however on the 1861 Census Sophie was listed as married to Joseph Bamfield and her children were listed using the Bamfield surname. Subsequent marriage and death records for the children used either Bamfield or Gendron.
For the past 3 years I've search through Church, Marriage and Death Records for Raphael, Sophie and Joseph between 1856 when Helena was born and 1861; and have found nothing showing the death or Raphael or the marriage of Sophie to Joseph. I'm now wondering if Raphael changed his name (?). Any thoughts, opinions, etc., on where to look next would be greatly appreciated.
I'm also looking for any 'cousins' connected to this family.
