Generation 1: Grandmother's grandmother & grandfather's father = siblings

Generation 2: Grandmother's parent & Grandfather = 1st cousins

Generation 3: Grandmother & her children = 2nd cousins

Your grandparents were first cousins once removed. "Removed" means "generations apart" in cousins.

She was the mother as well as the second cousin to her children.
