I have found someone listed on the 1880 Census whose occupation was that of "morocco dresser". I have found additional information that this man owned a hat factory that produced "skivers" which are the soft hat linings in the inside of the hat. So, the commentary about leather, and bookbinding, and the like is correct. But, it seems it could have also involved the leather bands in hats.
