Roddy -

You are right that George did adopt - he and Martha adopted their six grandchildren after their father and Martha's son Jacky Custis was killed at the battle of Yorktown. One of those was George Washington Parke Custis whose daughter married Robert E. Lee.

Having said that - any descendants of those children still would not be descendants of George although they would be descendants of his wife Martha.
