James, thank a bunch. It certainly seems that the claim went to the Court of Claims where is was eventually dismissed. However, the claim dragged on for quite a few years. Now that I have given this thing more thought it all makes sense. Why? Because at least one of George's sons was an attorney during this time. Also, his daughter-in-law had a brother who was a VERY successful attorney, state representative, law professor and Federal Judge. There are more family connections to those in the legal profession so they had legal resources to draw upon so why not fight this thing as far as possible?

The name "Marga" isn't familiar but George's wife was named Martha. However, she pre-deceased George, she died between 1860 and 1870 and George never remarried. But he also had a daughter who was named Martha. Perhaps she is the "Marga" referred to - more clues. I really appreciate the help, Rick
