Obituaries used to be so interesting, didn't they?
I recently found a newspaper story regarding a fifth cousin, once removed. During her wedding, one of her bridesmaids collapsed and was carried out of the sanctuary to get some air. The wedding continued on as planned. The bridesmaid, unfortunately, died of a heart ailment. The story veers from a detailed description of the bride's dress (marquisette and lace over satin) and flowers (white snapdragons and sweetpeas) to information about the funeral arrangements for the late bridesmaid and a list of her survivors. One imagines the society reporter for the local paper at the church, pre-primed with the details of the dress but forced to wing it when the unexpected happened.
