Social Security Death Index, just so you will know

why you can not find that ancestor,,,,,

If you go to the

http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi

web site and put in the death year of 1900 you will get 89 hits.

If you put in any death year from 1900 to 1935 and on to 1940, 1945 and into 1950's you will get hits.

In 1900 you get 89
In 1910 you get 26
In 1920 you get 102
In 1930 you get 67
In 1935 you get 59
In 1940 you get 2816 and this number may more of less be right.
In 1950 you get 18432 and this number may be lots closer to being right.

From 1900 to 1935 you have about 3500 to 4000 people that have bad death dates because the 67 people that it states died in 1930 could not get a Social Security Number until 1935 so thay died sometime after 1935.

So I guess we send someone an email and get it corrected,,,,,Please donot hold your breath for this.

And now that I got it all wrong, good luck with it,

James
