At least you found out early that your birth certificate was wrong! I was 38 years old when I discovered that my middle name was recorded as "Jay" rather than "Joy". This seemingly insignificant mistake almost held up my passport application. Luckily all of my ID as a married person uses "Joy", so they just treated it as a name change.
