Cootware Family history by Morphcorp
I just received an advertisement in the mail for a book called, "THE YEAR 2002 INTERNATIONAL COOTWARE FAMILY YEARBOOK, A yearbook celebrating the last 2000 years of Cootware History", by Morphcorp LLC, Publishers of the "Cootware Family News". The price is $39.85 plus $5 processing fee.
My gut feeling was that this is a fraud, as the aren't many Cootwares in the entire country and I believe all are descended from the same ancestor by the name of Courtois. So for one thing there are no 'international' Cootwares anyhow. Also I've been researching the ancestry of this descendant for about 5 years now and I live in Burlington, Vermont the very location this ancestor first came to the United States.
I've been sharing and exchanging information with Cootware 'cousins' from around the country via e-mail for about 3 years now. I've received help from some very experienced researchers in this area and nobody here has heard of the "Cootware Family News". And the advertisement itself states that Vermont has the most Cootware households in the country.
I saw many postings from earlier this year claiming it's a scam, but only a couple had actually made purchases. Can anyone give me any feedback on this company? Has anyone received anything from this company and was able to verify the 'facts' it contained?
If it's a fraud then I would like to post a warning on the Cootware GenForum, but I would want to be certain. I would hate to point my finger and claim scam if it turned out to be legit! Also I would also hate to miss the opportunity if it were Legit!
Thank You,
Michael Cootware
