Hi Cousin!
I would love to know anything you can tell me about the Geltz family of Port Hope.

I just learned that I am descended from Maria Ernestine Johanna Geltz (aka Mary), daughter of Christian and Amelia (Will) Geltz. I have one picture of her, and tons of pictures of her descendents. She had a brother named John --and a grandfather named Johann Christian. Which one built the factory? Are there any Geltz's in Port Hope today?

Mary married Otto Thorman, June 3, 1895 in Port Hope. She had three sons, one who died early, one named Herbert, and one named William, who was my grandfather. William drowned in the Detroit river when my mother was 3, so I never knew him, but my mother definitely took after the Geltz/Thorman side of the family.

Can't wait to learn more about your family. If there are any other Port Huron Geltz's out there, I have the birthdays and many of the wedding dates of everyone from Johann Christian b. 10-16-1815 through the 13 kids of Christian b.5-28-1842. Jeanne
