Rhode Island Death Of RODOLPHE "RUDY" GELINAS, 85
RODOLPHE "RUDY" GELINAS, 85, formerly of Shady Lane, a retired truck driver and former town official, died yesterday at the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Centre, in Woonsocket.
He was the husband of Julienne M. (Forcier) Gelinas. Born in Woonsocket on May 26, 1919, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Roseanna (Turgeon) Gelinas. Mr. Gelinas had been a truck driver for Nelson Freightways for more than 10 years, until retiring 18 years ago, and had worked in the office of the Alsace Worsted Co. for many years.
He had served on the North Smithfield Planning Board.
An Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945, in New Guinea and the Philippines, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a member of the Royal Travelers and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Mr. Gelinas was a communicant of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, in Woonsocket.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sisters, Blanche Ahern of Somerville, Mass., Cecile Emma Rovedo of Woonsocket, and Georgette Alverez in California; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will be in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, Mass
