From the "Biographical History of Elizabeth Boyce Truman" by Erma Bowler Bracken
Elizabeth Boyce, with her parents, brothers and sisters, was with the Saints when they were driven out of Nauvoo and (spent the winter of 1846-47 at an Indian village north of Winter Quarters. They named the settlement, Ponca. The family was with Bishop George Miller’s company and they had followed him there. Ann Geldard Boyes was to die, and be buried there sometime during that winter. At the insistence of Brigham Young, the company returned to Winter Quarters in March of 1847. This comes from a history of the George Boyes family by Marilyn Boyce - 1992)It was here we presume she met Jacob Mica Truman who was born August 30th, 1825 in New York State (North Tonawanda, Niagara County).
Elizabeth is my gggrandmother and her parents, George and Ann, were sealed in the Nauvoo Temple (original) in Jan 1846 prior to their leaving Nauvoo and traveling west. It is highly improbable that she would wind up Michigan one month later.
I got Marilyn's history from a cousin, David H. Boyce and he can be reached at [email protected]
I just received a signing of my guestbook from Marilyn Boyce and hope to get a copy of her history of George and Ann.
I hope this will dispel any mixups about where Ann died and when.
