You mentioned a connection to the Minneapolis area. I'm not at all sure that this is your connection, but my grandmother was Paulena Gehrke (b.1871, d.Dec. 3,1946) who lived in St. Paul, MN. Her siblings were William Gehrke, Carl Gehrke, Fred Gehrke, Herman Gehrke, Louise Gehrke Hoffman, Martha Gehrke Willie, Anna Gehrke Benke and Ida Gehrke Lamberg. An Albert Gehrke was a brother who stayed in Germany as a tailor.

I believe her father's name (my great grandfather) was Wilhelm (William) Gehrke. I'm not sure of his wife, but believe it to be Schroeckenberg. (or similar) My written family history shows my grandmother, Paulena, attending school in London, England and living with an uncle William from 1878-1893. Then joining her parents in America around 1893.

Your reference to the Minneapolis area was the first I've seen, and that piqued my interest.
