I do know that the family immigrated from Prussia, from a letter I found at my cousins, they came from Strarburg,France which is now Germany I believe. The letter refers to Caroline & Gottlieb crossing the Atlantic and one of the sons died while at sea and he was buried at sea in 1865. Two of their sons Herman & Carl (Charles) were already in Canada when the parents came across. Pembroke is where some of the Yarkie's still live, some of the family going by the Yerkie name are still in the North Bay and Commanda area. Commanda is where Charlie and Herman moved to after leaving the Pembroke area, Charlie and Rose had a homestead, and the land is still occupied by a Yerkie decendant. That's pretty cool.

Looking forward to your reply.
