I am looking for ancestors of John GEESEY,
I found John Geese, later spelled Geesey, in Plains. Censuses say his parents were born in Germany, or Switzerland.

In the 18 June 1900 census, he lives on Abbot Street, in Plains Township. John was born in Pennsylvania, his parents were shown as being born in Germany. He was born in Febuary of 1846 and had been married 26 years. He was a laborer and owned his own home. His occupation was hard to read.

His wife, Clarissa, had 7 children of whom 6 were still living. She was 44, born December, 1855. Their chldren were: Frederick, b. Dec 1872, brakeman on the railroad and out of work 6 months in the past year; Robert, b. August 1881, a silk mill worker who worked the whole year; John, b. Aug 1880, at school; Nelson, b Apr 1891 and Delilah, b. Aug 1895.

In the 29 April, 1880 census, John was a miner, in the 2nd electoral district of Plains, aged 34, b. Pa., but his parents were shown as being Swiss. No street was given. His wife is called Clara, aged 24, keeping house. Their children were Fred age 7, and William, aged 5.

The 16 August 1870 census lists a John Geesy, in Plains, aged 23, a laborer, b. Pennsylvania.

He is apparently unmarried and is enumerated with William Dove, laborer, aged 29, and his wife, Mary, 26, born in Swiss! and their children all born in Pennsylvania: Alice G. 4, Charles J. 2, Anna E. 3/12.

Thanks Bill Allen
