Richard, I am Erica's mother, Patti Geesey Williams. My father was Forrest Eugene Geesey (yob 1912. My Grandfather was John Adam Geesey (yob 1888). My greatgrandfather was Orin Sheldon Geesey (yob 1868). His father was George William Geesey. Erica and I do have lots of questions about George. I have three items that were his. An oil portrait of him in his Union army uniform. his discharge pin from that army, and a wooden dresser with three marble tops that I have been told all my life was hand-crafted by him. All three items came from Orin Sheldon's home in South Dakota to Texas to my Grandfather's house, then my father's house, then to my home in CO. If you are ever interested I would send you digital pictures of these items.
Erica and I used his discharge pin to trace him, somewhat, but only found that he was born in New York, and it looked like he married a civil war orphan. I do not have her name with me now, but it was Sara something, maybe Daigle??
Was his father, John A. the one who came to America? I was told that the family came from a country between Germany and France that no longer existed after WW1. Is that true?
Our branch of the Geesey family lost the name with my generation. Orin S. had two sons who lived. Each of them had one son. Neither of their son's had sons-only daughters. Are all those Geesys in Pennsylvania related to us?
Thank you for responding.
Sincerely,
Patti Williams
