Geesey Family Genealogy Forum

How fortunate that you made your post at this time! I am in the process of a major review of the Geesey/Giesey/Keesey/etc. family in America including various branches that are not directly linked (yet) to my own ancestry. I have seen references to John Ulrich Giesy previously, but I have never had any hard information. My grandmother had made a note about him after talking with Mrs. P.M. Giesy of Cleveland, Ohio in the late 1970s. Her note says that John Ulric Giesy was "born in the land of the Alps, Switzerland in 1754. He, his wife and 2 sons came to York Co. around 1800 and came to Ohio in 1804."
I have no doubt that John Ulrich is related to the Gysi/Gysin family of Canton Basel, Switzerland from which my ancestors came. See more about their history at my web site: http://people.musc.edu/~geesey/GysiLineage.htm
Now, all we need to do is find the link between him and the earlier documented generations.
