Hi Mark,
Thank you for answering my query. However, I do not agree with you. In the United Reformed and Lutheran Chuch - Blimeyers, Hopewell Twp, York, PA, the records state that John was the son of Conrad and Anna Giesey. The sponsors were John & Catherine Giesy. He was born 25 Jan 1811 and bpt. 24 Mar 1811. Conrad Giesey and Elizabeth McDonald were not married until 12 Nov 1812. (German Reformed Church - FHC#387,945). This would have John about 22 months old at the marriage. John had a older sister Catharine b 24 Apr 1803 - bpt 12 June 1803 - sponsors wer Christian and Catharine Giesy. There may be others that I am not aware of. Some web sites list brothers Henry (1805), Jacob (1808), and Conrad (1812). This needs to be proven.
In the 1810 census of York Co. there are at least 9 Giesy families, and 4 with the name Conrad.
John married about 1836 and is found in the 1840 census living in Montgomery Co., PA. In 1850 he is in Miami Co., OH. In 1860, 1870, & 1880 he is living in Kosciusko Co., IN.
Please check my work and see if I have gotten people mixed up.
Marilyn
