Does anyone have imfo on Geers from Kentucky? what tribe of Indians? Thank you

Joe Geers Jr born Feb 10, 1861.

Joseph M. Geers Sr (also misspelled as Gears) was born in 1837 (editor's note: or 1838?)in Fayette County, Ky He was a carpenter. He married Josephine when he was 23 years old and she was 18 years old . (editors note: The family thought he had enlisted in the Confederate Army & never heard more of him. Records were later found to show he had enlisted in the Union Army.) He enlisted 10-19-61 in Company A, 21st Regiment, Ky Infantry. He served 3 yrs 7 mo 28 days, nearly all of it during the Civil War
Joe Geers, Sr. was part of a family of Geers who came to Ky with a group of Moravian missionaries who worked with Indians. It is rumored that one of the Geers married an Indian and that strain is in my mother's family. She had very dark eyes and straight black hair. She was a very beautiful woman.

The name Goforth is also listed with the Moravian missionaries and The census of 1900 lists Joe Geers, Jr living with the Goforth family. Joe Geers Jr. died 5-9-1848 He is listed as married on his death certificate, but we did not know of this He lived with the Goforth family and is buried in Maple Grove, Ky. (Editors note: There is apparently a Maple Grove, Kentucky in Trigg County
