I am looking for information about a Pricila Geer, born abt 1790 in Connecticut, don't know what city/county. She appears in the 1870 NJ Census (80 yrs old), listed as Black, however, I suspect she was the child of at least one white parent. Each census enumerator had his/her own standards of defining race and I've seen both Black and Native Americans listed as "M" one year, and "B" or "I" the following census. There is no hard and fast rule about racial designations.

Perhaps your Geer's are related to mine?
