GAINESVILLE, GA - Geraldine "Gerry" Wheeler, 84, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at N.E. Georgia Hospital in Gainesville, GA after a year long illness. She was living in the home of her eldest daughter. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Pinecroft Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Cecil Marr with music by Frances Stinson and the Pinecroft Choir. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.
Gerry was born in Anadarko, OK. She resided with her family in Sunset Acres neighborhood for 50 years. She worked at Western Electric for nearly 20 years. Mrs. Wheeler served her family, church and community faithfully with much joy and desire all her life.
Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Beth Gee, brother, Thomas Felton, husband of 58 years, B.G. "Bill" Wheeler, sons, Larry and Kent Wheeler. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Gee and wife, Betty of Tulsa, OK, three sisters, LaDean and husband Lawrence Kunze of Tenaha, TX, Ottie Tucker of Huntsville, AL and JoAnna Kaye of San Antonio, TX, daughters, Teresa and husband, Pat Harding of Oakwood, GA and Joyce Wheeler of Shreveport, son, Dean Wheeler and wife, Pam of Shreveport, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Wheeler-Davidson and husband Lyman of Statesboro, GA, grandsons, Chris Wheeler and wife, Kendra with twin daughter, Abigail and Zoe Grace of Shreveport, Richard Larry Wheeler, Jr. and wife, Jamie, with daughters, Bailey and Taylor, and expectant twins in January 2010 of Bentonville, AR, Brian Harding and wife, Rene, with sons, Kyle and Caleb, of Plano, TX, Ronnie Wheeler of Minden, LA, granddaughters, Paige and husband John Dailey with daughter, Sami, and son, Matthew, of Florien, LA, Tara and husband, Richard Beighle, with son, Gil, of Wilmington, NC, Jessica Bozeman with daughter, Madison and son, Kane, Sheree Wheeler and daughter, Alyssa, all of Shreveport, Honorary granddaughter, Angela and husband, Danny Kirkpatrick, with daughters, Silver and Janie Rose, Lori Quigley Bertrand and husband, Chris, all of Shreveport, many loved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Richard Wheeler, John and Matthew Dailey, Brian Harding and Chris Bertrand.
