Geddes moto: Captor Majore?

Hello everyone

Trying to check some family lore with you all as I'm not sure which parts are true or invented by creative granparents/father. Please let me know if any of this is familiar to your branch of the family, it may help me get back a generation or two. Which would be ... fantastic!

The family moto was Captor Majore (Greater things shall I seize) but was changed to be more decorous at some point to Fide et Laboro (by faith and work)

The family home was called Sharrano (I share with none), location unknown.

Geddes - means Pike, the fish with the biggest teeth in the river. Reason being that Geddes used to live in the highlands and make raids on valley dwellers to carry off livestock and women.

Please let me know if this chimes with anyone out there.

Thanks,
Melissa
