Robert Geddes and Mary Witnall
My ancestor Robert Geddes came down from Scotland to Dover in 1797, supposedly having spent time in the army (either 91st or 93rd Highlanders) in the Napoleonic wars. At some time over the next three or four years he married Mary Witnall (or Whitnall, Whitnell, Whitnel etc)and they had a number of children, the first twi being John and Robert, who I believe were born in 1801 and 1802 respectively.Robert junior later worked as a bricklayer.
Can anyone give me any information on the origins of Robert Geddes (senior)?I know he was Scotish and he may have been from the area in or around Rothes in Morayshire.
Thanks in advance.
Paul Geddes
