Hi Stephanie
These families caught my attention as well as
other Gearhart researchers as they have a Va. connection. I think thatWilliamwas born on Feb 28 1779 in Rockbridge Co.,Va. He died on Mar 28 1847 in Ohio. Sarah Morris bn abt 1781 in Rockbridge Co.,Va. died Nov 21 1809 in Piqua,Miami Co.,Ohio. Her father is listed as Thomas Morris on the Marriage bond. William's parents appear to be John W. Gearhart bn 1744 in Germany. His mother's maiden name is something like Cartwright? I list 5 sibblings for William: (1)Catherine who married Jacob Keller in 1803. (2) John W. Jr bn Aug 21,1771 in Rockbridge Co.,Va died apr 12 1869 in Ohio.Married to Catherine Cotterman on Apr 5 1791 in Va. (3) Mary Elizabeth bn 1775 in Rockbridge Co.,VA died aft 1850 in Greene Co.,Ind. Married to Christian Trout bn 1753 in Sharpsburg,Washington Co.,Md., died Jun 16 1847 in Pike Co.,Ky. Trout was a Rev. War Vet. (4) Henry bn bef 1779 in Rockbridge married Barbara Young on Dec 16 1794 in Rockbridge Co.,Va. I believe They stayedin Rockbridge Co.. (5) William,Above,Children:Mary Ann(ended up in the Portland,Ore. area),Lewis M.,Elizabeth,Eliza or Louisa G.
(6) Lewis bn jan 1 1780 married to Phoebe Jacobs on Jan 1 1807 in Rockbridge Co.,Va.
So far various researchers have discovered 4 Gearhart families in pre 1790 Va. John W. in Rockbridge,Adam and John in Montgomery and Peter Sr. in Franklin Co. Adam and John are my ancestors. Sure could use some help on them!! Herb
