Herb,
Do you know if all four of those Gearhart families are related?Christian Trout may tie them together in some way.
For example, although Christian Trout was from Maryland, I saw a reference that he was drafted into the Revolutionary War out of Montgomery Co, VA in 1778 (near Adam & John Gearhart). Then, in 1789 and 1790, there is a Christian Trout ("Trought") who appears in the Franklin Co, VA tax records (near Peter Gearhart).I believe this Christian to be related to my Joseph Trout and others who also resided in Franklin Co, VA at that time. Finally, Christian would later marry in Rockbridge Co, VA in 1795 (near John W.).These are interesting coincidences, nonetheless.
By the way, my Trouts were affiliated with the Church of the Brethren (aka the "Dunkers" or German Baptist Brethren). Were the Gearharts connected to this church at all?
