Suzanne: I am trying to find the parents of Henry A. Gearhart (and other spellings) b. 10-18-1844 d. 5-14-1924. I am not sure of the county of birth, but believe it to be Washington or Frederick Co. Your Jacob could be his grandfather. I found him in the 1850 census of Adams Co. Pa. listed as 13 years old with the family of Wm. Keller. Dates do not fit in here.He dated Ann Keller before he was married to Mary Jane Ridgely of Howard Co. Md. Their children were: William Isaac Garheart (my grandfather), Henry Howard, Ira, Georgia, Priscilla, Lizzie, Hetty. My father was William Guy Garheart, brother Ridgely Garheart. As history has it most of the children were named for grandparents and gggrandparents.Henry A. joined the South in the Civil War, deserted and married.I am wondering if this may be the reason I can't find his parents. There may have been some differences because he fought for the South. If any of this sounds familiar to you or anybody, I would be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.Catharine Bohn (Garheart) Rhoads
