Land record, Greene Co., Doc. #22411 issued Jan. 9, 1841, for 80 acres.

My notes say that John Montgomery left Illinois in March, 1866, and arrived in Neosho Co., Kansas in April.He immediately bought a farm.His siblings, William and Sarah, lived there, also.He is listed in 1883 Neosho Co. pensioners, cert. #64278.Military records: D Co., 32 Ill. Infantry, Private, served Aug. 29, 1861- June 3, 1865; wounded in hip and head, Apr. 6, 1862, Battle of Shiloh.Wounded in the right leg during the Battle of Atlanta, July, 1864.

John suffered from chronic bronchitis, asthma, and his leg wound which crippled him.
He died Dec. 2, 1906, of pulmonary tuberculosis of the right lung.
