Some Southern Jean families are descended from the Cornwall England Jane family
Recent dna testing reveals that some of the Jean/Jane family from TN, SC, NC and KY are descended from the same ancestor as the Jane family of St Cleer, Cornwall.
Those matching this family from Cornwall are descended from:
1)Wiley Jean, of Bedford County, TN (born NC)
2)James Thomas Gean (originally from Lincoln County, TN but moved to Wayne County)
3)Philip Geane/Jean of Chatham County, NC
4)Burrell Jane/Jean of Bute County NC - then to South Carolina
5) Unk Jean of Montgomery/Floyd County, KY.
The family from St. Cleer didn't immigrate to the US until the 1860's.Our common ancestor would be much earlier, as we can document all of the above men for a long time before that.We know Burrell, and Sherod were in Bute County, NC before and during the Revolution and Philip was in Chatham by 1772.
