Janice,

What I don't understand is HOW you lost 1/3 of your work by doing a Back up.

Which version of Family Tree Maker are you using?

You may have Version 2005, 2006, and Version 16 on your PC, but you only use one of them. Help, About, will tell you which version you are using.

When you do a File, Back Up, from within Family Tree Maker, it backs up your entire file.

So, you put in a CD into the CD Drive. You then did a File, Back Up, right?

You then took that CD to the new computer and did a File, restore from Back Up and selected that file that was in the CD.

When you do that, the entire file will be restored.

Now, do you see why I don't understand the loss of a third of your work?

There is no "combined" version of Family Tree Maker. Each of those versions program files will be in three different places on your hard drive.

What "stupid lecture"? I do NOT try to lecture anyone. AND I am sorry that you think I am stupid.

You asked for help, and I am trying to help YOU.

Thank you,

Russ
