Mr. Clark,

I am unsure as to who William and Polly are. The farthest that I have been able to go back is about 1839.

In 1839 My grandfathers great grandfather, William A. Gayle, was born on Aug. 1 1839.
This was written by his wife in her bible.

I. William A. Gayle [b. Aug. 1, 1839 - d. Mar. 22, 1878]

A. Poem written by Eliza C. [Chandler] Gayle
"Dearest William, thou hast left me
And thy loss I deeply feel
But its God that hath [benefit] me
He can all my sorrows heal
Wife"

B. (Married Dec. 26, 1860) Eliza C. Chandler [b. Dec. 11, 184?]

I am unsure as to the names of his parents or even where they resided. However I do know that his grandson William V. Gayle had lived in the Urbanna VA area and was born in 1891. If you want any further info that may be pertinent, feel free to reply. I hope this helps you, and if this is in fact my great great great great grandfather, then it would definitely help me as well. Thanks very much for your time.

Tim
