Emily S. Gayle, dau of Mathew Washington Gayle and wife, Martha S. Allen, married (1)William B. Tanner in Perry Co., Tenn., and had one son, James Wiley Tanner. Emily and her husband divorced. She married (2)1861 Perry Co., Tenn., Michael Kachelman, who arrived on the ship, "Tasker" at the Port of New Orleans in 1857 from Neuhof, Bavaria, departing at Bremenhaven, Germany. They lived at Pope,Perry Co., Tenn. and had: Martha, Florence, John M., Samuel J., and Harvey Alonzo Kachelman. Emily divorced her 2nd husband,
packed up her children and moved to Clear Creek Twp., Stafford Co., Kansas, by 1870. After she arrived in Kansas she sold her land in Perry Co., Tenn. to C. A. Hall, born
about 1842 in Tennessee,and was living near St. John, Stafford Co., Kansas, in 1870. In 1860 C.A. Hall was living in the HH of N.A. Hall, age 40, and wife, M.A., age 34, in Murfeesboro, Rutherford Co., Tennessee. N.A. Hall had two young sons, J.F., age 12, and M.E., age 7. C.A. Hall was not a son. Emily was living with her son, Harvey A. Kachelman in the 1900 census in Albano Twp, Stafford Co., Kansas. She was living with her daughter, Florence Elizabeth Kachelman (m. Noble) when she died in 1905, she is buried in the Fairview Cemetery in St. John, Stafford Co., Kansas.
Her son, James Wiley Tanner, lived in St. John, Kansas.
Her sons, John, Samuel, and Harvey A. Kachelman, lived near St. John, Kansas, and were farmers. Harvey married Nancy
Dykes, dau of Williamson Tucker Dykes, born in Hawkins Co., Tenn., and wife, Rebecca Maria Keller, born in Greene Co., Tenn., the Dykes family moved from Tennessee to Richland Twp., Stafford Co., Kansas, in April 1884. Harvey became Stafford County's Treasurer in St. John. They are the gt grandparents of Vince Gill, 4 times Grammy Award Winner in 1994. Emily's daughter, Martha (m....Copeland), Emily's daughter, Florence, and her husband moved to the Panhandle of Oklahoma. Harvey A. Kachelman's grandaughter, Gerene, married Stanley Gill, and she would like very much to learn more about Emily's sisters, where they lived and died, and their children. I am Gerene Gill's cousin and she is so excited about learning about Emily's family. Emily was a very independant lady.
