Hi Frank,

I see from your posting that you have information on the children of Gilbert Gay (son of Thomas Bolling Gay) and Martha Glass. I was only aware of one son, Thomas and do not know what happened to him. Gilbert Gay did then marry Eliza Brown Morrison and have 7 children that I am aware of. Eliza Brown was the child of Alfred Brown and Margaret (possibly Rupell) from Blount Cty, AL. I have additional info regarding the Browns in DeWitt Cty. I am most interested in your connection James T Gay. My grandmother was his younger sister Mattie Gay. She married Walter Sterling Harris and lived in Wimberley, Hays Cty, TX. Gilbert and Eliza are buried there, as well as Mattie, Clay, James T., Gilbert II, Leonard and Phillip. I have been trying to find out how or why they made the move from DeWitt to Hays County. I do know that Clay never married, but had no info on the others. Mattie and Walter had 8 children, all of whom are now deceased.

Fascinating info on John Morrison. Since Eliza didn't remarry until 1867, I thought she may have been widowed by the war. I am also interested in finding out how Gilbert came to Texas. He is in the 1860 DeWitt cty census Clinton P.O. pg 457 so appears he left GA between 1850 and 1860. I believe I have the correct Eliza Brown with her family in Blount Cty, Al in 1850 census.

I would love to share further info at your convenience. My email is tmgreene@rcn.com.
Melanie
