I am looking for a Sara(h)Elizabeth Gay who married Samuel Brooks sometime after the Civil War. They migrated to Young County and Knox Co., TX. My husband's grandmother, Justina Marinda Brooks Jones, made application to the D. A. R., and I think the Daughters of the Confederacy as well. There were rumors that the Brookses owned a plantation, in Tennessee or Georgia. If this sounds familiar, would appreciate hearing from anyone.
