I hope the following information will be helpful to you. I have located Alfred and Elizabeth Gay in the 1860 (Washington TWP., Lawrence, CO, Arkansas)cenus. Sharp County was created later. Dwelling # is 203-639-650. Alfred P. was 48 (birth place NC), Elizabeth 42(birth place TN)Children:Sarah F. 20(birthplace TN), Pinkney 12(birthplace TN), Cheracy 10(birthplace TN), Martha E. 8, and Catharina 2 (last two kids birthplace AR). Alfred's Parents are Elias Gay and Frances Bowden. Information that I have received is that they had 13 children. I have been researching Alfred's brother Thomas B. Gay (I believe that he is my Great-Great-Grandfather. Alfred parent's names are John Gay and Marha Elias Harper. I hope this information helps.
