Found this family in a book written ca. 1918 - 'Jenkins-Dwiggins Family Record'.
James Gawthrop, s/o Thomas and Isabel Gawthrop was born near Kendal, in Westmoreland, Old England, 4 May 1742, O. S.[What does the O. S. stand for]. James married Patience Allen, daughter of John Allen and Esther Woolman. Patience was born 3 Nov 1746 in East Nottingham, Old England and died aft. 10 Dec 1796.
Children of James and Patience Allen Gawthrop:
i. Esther Gawthrop was born 25 Mar 1772 in Little Briton.
ii. Thomas Gawthrop was born 26 Mar 1774.
iii. John Gawthrop was born 22 Feb 1776.
iv. Isabel Gawthrop was born 16 Feb 1778. Isabel married a man named 'Wade'.
v. James Gawthrop was born 25 Oct 1781.
vi. Rachel Gawthrop was born 6 Aug 1783. Rachel married William Davis.
vii. Edith Gawthrop was born 11 Feb 1781[d.o.b is probably 1783-1788]. Edith married a man named 'Taylor'.
+viii. Hannah Gawthrop was born 12 Dec 1788 and died 23 May 1847. Hannah married Jacob Jenkins, son of Jonathon Jenkins and Hannah Hooge. Jacob was born 16 Nov 1781. He died 23 May 1849.
ix. Ruth Gawthrop was born 27 Feb 1791. She died 3 Aug 1793.
Hannah and Jacob had 10 children, all b. in Virginia, USA.
