Date of birth: 24th September 1885. (Windsor, Berkshire)
Occupation:Singer and insurance agent.
Married at enlistment.
Educated at H.M. Chapel Royal, St James Palace, Hampstead.

Will of Bernard Gawthrop: In the event of my death, I give the whole of my property and effects to Miss Lilla Turner at 4 Mark mansions, Westville rd, Sheperds Bush, London. Signed 10/10/1916 (B.Gawthorp, 2nd City of London Yeomanry).

1914, 1st Sept - Enlisted at Putney into 93rd battalion County of London Regiment, City of London Yeomanry. Address on enlistment: 5 Hazelmere rd, Kilburn.

1914, 1st Sept - Medical inspection: Age 28. Height 5’10”. Chest fully expanded:41 ½ “.

1914, 28th Nov - promoted to acting corporal.

1915, 30th Jan - appointed L/Sergt

1915, 9th July - Promoted to Sergeant.

1916, 13th Oct - Transferred to 1/23rd London regiment.

1917, 6 Feb. - Appointed from Srgt 1/23 London Territorial force to officer Cadet battalion

1917, 25th Apr - Medical history. Birthplace Windsor, Berkshire. Declared age:33. Trade:Proffesional. Height: 5’11” Weight:202lbs. Defects:defective teeth.

1917, 26th May - Appointed Temp. 2nd Lt in 1st reserve Garrison battalion, Suffolk regiment.

1918,15th March - Court martial held at Middlesex, Guildhall on for drunkness, in that he on 22nd February 1918 was drunk in London. Verdict:Guilty. Dismissed from His Majesties service.
