Wiktorya Gawel, Jaroslaw Poland area

My grandmother was Wiktorya Gawel. She was born near Jaroslaw, Poland near or one the San river in Eastern Poland/Galacia. She married Josef Mielniczek and came to the U.S. in the early 1900s but her family stayed in Poland. During WWII the family stopped communication with her and she never heard from them again. I believe her father was Vudvig Gawel and that she may have had sisters named Carolina and also a sister Sophia. Her mother died before she came to America but her grandmother, father and siblings were still living. They were Catholic and her father was a farmer. I am despirately trying to find out what happened to the family or what happened in the area where they lived that would cause them to disappear. I know that there are still Gawels in that area. We visited Jarslaw some years ago and spoke to a Catholic priest there whose sirname was Gawel but no one seemed to know the names of their family memebers back then. PLEASE help me find information on my family. I am doing this in memory of my dear Grandmother.
Sincerely!
