Hello,
I do not have a David Gavin in my records, how are you related? Do you live in the Poyan area?
Sorry, I wish I knew more as I did not realize the connection until Suzie Gavin passed away. I met her several time and have tried to contact her sister Jane but never get a reply. Her obit gave me a few clues and then when I went back further I saw the connection.
Roscommon, which you have supplied is the closest I know of.
However, my Alexander O'Reilly who married the second time to Alice Kelly, sister of Mariah was from Fuerty, County Roscommon, Ireland. Alex was my paternal great grand father.
It is a long shot but maybe this is one of the reasons he was drawn to her. I know Alice was working at the Palmer House in Chicago, Illinois and Alex was introduced to her, borrowed a car and met her in Chicago. They married at St. Patrick Church, Chicago, Illinois and then lived in the family farm in Poygan until both died.
Have you tried to find obit's in the paper at the Library? I wonder if Dom Gavcin is listed in Randall's at the Library.
