my g-g-father thomas gavaghan,left charlestown in 1840s for america, fought in us civil war, returned to charlestown, married his best friend's daughter and had a slew of kids in 1880-1900.
his daughters, nora, alice, liz and bessie, my g-mother , came to boston at turn of 1900, nellie was home in charlestown until sometime in 1960s. i do not know about boys, but bessies father wasthomas and married mary groake. they also owned a pub in resort town. thomas, had some money fron us army pension. any of this soung familiar?
